My quest for the perfect scone recipe

A good plain scone, real butter and a cup of earl grey are one of life’s joys. Well for me, Kate likes fruit scones (yuck), covered in jam. However, I have frustratingly found that all the recipes I have tried for making my own scones have been a disappointment. Small and sometimes just too crumbly. Don’t get me wrong, they taste great but they are always way smaller than I expect and usually a bit underwhelming. This has led me on a journey of discovery over the last year to find the perfect scone recipe.

Panettone – Italian Christmas Bread

The creation of our own family traditions has been one of the best things about sharing Christmas with Kate and over the years we’ve developed a few which are unique to us, for instance, we have french onion soup for tea on Christmas Eve. Kate makes the soup and I make the bread croutons. We open our presents while sitting on the floor at the tree and we each give each other one silly present, like a onesie, just to have a giggle on Christmas morning. This is a new one, home made Panettone with a coffee on Christmas morning.
