The identity and portrayal of the design studio teacher in the hybrid studio classroom.

Reading Time: 62 minutes Studio, the signature pedagogy of art and design teaching maintains its ancient identity as a discipline used to teach students the habits of thinking, doing and being in order to prepare them for life as a practitioner. However, regardless of the impact technology has made on society and culture, and the increasing demand for on-line education, the studio as a practice remains almost unchanged. This study set out to explore the experiences of five studio teachers, currently teaching in a hybrid (on-line/face-to-face) programme teaching design This explores teacher-practitioner identity, how teaching presence is created in the studio (on-line and face-to-face) and the impact that technology or other factors may have on this.

Using my blog as a medium for some self development: a project on digital skills

Digital skills is quite a focus at work just now, the Scottish Government published it’s learning and teaching strategy, which basically aims to make it possible to allow all of Scotland’s educators, learners and parents to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digital technology in order to raise attainment, ambition and opportunities for all.
